Next up is part two in our three-part series on the therapies that are important to understand if diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This episode we focus on speech language pathology or therapy. I am guessing a lot of this information will be new to most of you. It was to me. The speech language pathologist professionals help with communications disorders, cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing disorders. We may encounter any or all of these at some point on our journey with this disease. So, listen in to learn from an expert speech language pathologist as she takes us through what to look out for and how to get help. We also hear from a real person with Parkinson’s tell her story on this topic. Enjoy! https://www.lsvtglobal.com/ https://www.parkinsonvoiceproject.org/ Thank you to my sponsor, Boston Scientific, the maker of Vercise Genus, a Deep Brain Stimulation or DBS system. Very interesting. This speech pathologist really knew her stuff and communicated it quite well. From now on I will speak with INTENT!! I never knew all the things that could be affected by speech. I am concerned about the swallowing although I do not have an issue with that now. I was diagnosed 22 years ago and I guess they did not believe in doing things (like sending one to a speech path early!
May I simply say what a relief to uncover somebody that really understands what theyre discussing over the internet. You certainly know how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people really need to check this out and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that youre not more popular because you certainly have the gift.
